They have been one of the better pitching teams in the league ranking 7th in xFIP and have been a league average with the bats. The Giants on the other hand have exceeded expectations thus far in the season, sitting tied for first in the NL West with the Dodgers and tied with the Athletic and Dodgers for the best record in baseball. While this is to be expected as they play in by far the worst ballpark in the majors for pitching, what is incredibly surprising is that they rank dead last in the league in wRC+ at 79 which is lower than the Tigers even though the Rockies have played the vast majority of their games at home. Right now, the Rockies can’t seem to do a single thing right as their pitching currently ranks 7th worst in the league with a 4.4 xFIP. They currently sit in last place in the NL West with a record of 9-14 and are the worst team in the league on the road, winning only one of their eight games. The Rockies come into this game as one of the worst teams in all of baseball.
